Funny headed Theo

Little Theo was born with sagittal craniosynostosis, or fused back plates of his skull. In the short term this was fine but as he got older his brain was going to grow more than his skull would be able to allow. Because of this and because kids bounce back earlier from surgeries, we elected to have a skull repair surgery done. After two all day meets with the doctors we finally had his surgery today!

(Dave has a cold hence his SARS impression). This is Theo right before the surgery as we wait - patient goose hadn't had anything to eat in over 4 hours and he was still his smiley wriggley self. Our good little boy sucked on a pacifier vigorously when he got hungry and finally wore himself out and slept, right before we handed him over. Calm happy child :)

He's in recovery now - the surgery was so quick they didn't have time to tell us it had begun. Now he just has a few days in the hospital to recover and then he's back home with his family. We can't wait!

Multiples programs

I've been reading blogs by other moms-of-twins, and one lady talked about how she had called various baby product manufacturers to see if they had multiples programs (discounts or samples for families with twins+). I thought, "Hey, why not?" and spent 1/2 hour or so on the phone with the various diapers and formula companies asking if they had a multiples program. Many of them said yes! We'll send you stuff in the mail! And indeed, over the next few days I got coupons and samples of formula in the mail - very kind!

Then there was Enfamil. I talked with a lovely lady there who said she'd have to confirm with our pediatrician first but then yes, they did have some support for families of multiples. Great! I said. Here's their number!

The next day I got a call from our pediatrician telling me that if I wanted to come by and pick up my samples they were at the dr's waiting for me. Great! I said, calculating out piling everyone in the car and thinking "Man, I hope it's not coupons."

Here's what was waiting for me:

I just... wow. And over the next week 2 more tubs arrived in the mail. Unbelievably generous of them - thank you Enfamil!

Update: we just got a package:

Two more cases of formula! So very kind, thank you again Enfamil!

Seattle Children's Museum

We all ventured out and spent the morning at the Seattle Children's Museum, the first time I'd been. This is a spectacular space for kids, I was very impressed (and took lots of pictures to show you!). Everything you see is to a 5 year old's scale:

There was more but we had to regroup for lunch. Definitely not playing with it all in one trip!

The story of the cookie

Ellie and Avy were eating cookies after dinner, and Ellie decided she was too full. Normal process is to offer to the other before putting away but Ellie asked if she could save for later. Avy immediately ran, got a tupperware container out of storage, and brought to me for Ellie's cookie. Not only was she not disgruntled at not getting more cookies (ah double negatives), she wanted to help! Here is the tupperware she brought:

Hey, it works! She even reminded Ellie about her remaining cookie the following day. Sweetheart.

Goodies from Nana Aldridge

Nana Aldridge sent each girl their own letter with goodies - most exciting! There's a video of them trying to blow up their balloons (and Momma getting the subsequent shower), but the favorites were definitely the magnets (Ellie: "Mag-a-nets"). After opening the letters, Avy gently reminded me to "Thank Nana" so, thank you Nana!

My little bear

Just cos, cute.

Another good day

Went to the park then made brownies for the nannies after nap. It's a rough life!

Ellie defending herself from the bugs above her head.

The fierce Avy! Luckily caged...

I love these faces.

Smiley Lily

I rarely catch Lily smiling on camera - she's too quick on the draw - so have a few in sequence as she mugs for us :)
