Bungie Picnic 2018

The Bungie Picnic is a major event for the whole family, one we look forward to for months.

Ellie and Avy got up early and distracted themselves by drawing - Ellie drew the solar system.

Avy made cards for everyone at the picnic.

We biked over (12 miles round trip, rar!) and then tackled the first major event - bouncy houses!

There was BBQ lunch and cotton candy. They'd never had cotton candy before - this was a big hit.

And then there was ice cream. See Theo's face? That's the face of a little boy having the best day ever.

Face painting. Lily is a pro.

And balloon animals. Avy went outside the norm and asked for a crown, and my goodness did the artist deliver!

Surprise packages

We love surprise packages! Grandma Dorothy sent the kids some books and a box of hair decorations, which the kids promptly made use of every single one.

Avy sharing her birthday card (thank you Grandpa Donald!) with the other kids - pushing the button to start the music turns out to be a great incentive.

Hotter days

Who needs swimsuits? I luckily had some spare clothing in the car because, with the heat of the day, no one even hesitated - they just ran straight into the water.

Yea, they had fun.

Somehow they all fit in this box. And for more than just a millisecond!

Theo's dog met with an accident and needed a bath. Theo stalked the washer until it was done.

This is Ellie's laptop, Lily's just trying to figure out what all the fuss is about.

Park with friends!

Costumes are the best.

In Seattle

Our wonderful friend Jessilee met us in Seattle and we spent the day in the Children's museum and at the park.

Theo fulfilling his lifelong dream of driving a fire engine.

Going to the eye doctor! This Children's museum has lots of little shops designed to let kids play at being grownups.

It also has an international area with homes set up from around the world - this one is from Japan. Theo is pretending to be sick, and everyone else is taking care of him.

HIIIIIIGH up. I definitely gulped watching this happen - there was a line of kids waiting to climb so she didn't have an easy way down. My fears were unfounded - she never even hesitated.

And after lunch, a snack of cheesecake from the food court.

Wandering through the days

We have a few regularly scheduled activities but by large our day-to-day is fairly routine: breakfast, chores, play/read, go outside/to park, lunch, school, quiet time/tv, play, dinner, read/play, bed. Which, especially in the summer, is glorious. I also love the kinds of play the kids come up with when left to their own devices.

Drawing is a big thing now. The kids made a drawing train (their words):

Avy made a robot.

Ellie drew a triceratops.

Lily investigated dirt up close (with help from her brother); she was unbothered by her resemblance to a puppy.

Hammock.

Pool time! It's been getting hotter here (although not as hot as the rest of you, phew!).

She's a witch. A bossy witch.

The girls got into puzzles which sparked Theo's interest - he put this one together himself!
